This is Megan, who is a professional street blogger. She was actually on her way to get started on hitting the streets for materials for her blog, when I approached her for a quick photo. Megan is a retail manager at Biscuit, a local fashion retail store, where she not only works but shops for her clothes. The only other place where loves to shop is at the (5&10) Thrift Stores.
When getting ready in the mornings her style of dress is totally dependant on her mood, it works around her hairstyle. Whatever is going on with her hair that is the basis from which everything else follows. The blog she writes for is called “Fashion East” so go check it out for yourself at www.fashioneasthalifax.com
These two guys are Shakur and Jordan. They were hanging outside at the court house waiting for their turn before a judge. They had great personalities and got excited about me taking their picture. This morning they woke to get dressed for court, not putting much thought into it. I asked them way and they both said…”It was way too early” for them to be “dressed up”. This look doesn’t really show their style par sa, needless to say they are not dressed for success or even at their best. Mostly the looks they try to achieve is trendy with tight fits and or sometimes baggy.
This Dan, who works in the business sector. He mostly dresses for work. He says it not really a business causal look, but this look allows him to be one step down from a suit, not having to wear a blazer. He shops mostly online and Banana Republic. Hey Dan, you the man!
This is Ron; he was standing on the street looking for spare change. He was very cool to talk too. Right away wanted to know where his picture would be published and or posted. We have a good conversation around his style. Which he calls Punk. He mostly gets his clothes from other hitchhikers and Frenchy’s. And one particular store he mentioned was in Moncton, NB called “Spin It”. This store is a record and hobby store where they sell band shirts and such items.
This is Raymond. What an interesting and cool guy. Very friendly and outgoing. Raymond said his style is mostly R&B and some skater punk boy, but in a classic way. But not to over the top. He keeps it simple and modern. Raymond shops at H&M, and because he is from Washington D.C., in the US. He is accustomed to finding almost any style he wanted. It is much harder for him to shop here and pull off his look. He said he moved here to be with his Mother.
Taylor was for me the most interesting in both character and fashion. From a distance I spotted her right. Taylor expressed to me that her style was a “Hobo" style. Which is all the rage for her. She lite up when I mentioned about the fashion and design school I attend. Taylor shops at “Dress in Time” and “American Apparel” according to Taylor those stores rock. Dress in time is a vintage store. I will definitely check it out. Thanks Taylor.
Carla looks bright bold colors, just putting on a pair of jeans and rolling with it is the best, she just puts on what she feels. I spotted Carla on Spring Garden Road coming out of Tim Horton’s getting her first coffee of the day. Carla’s styles is pretty rugged but girly.
This Kathy, she was on her way to work and feeling happy. The outfit she is wearing is very bright and colorful. When asked why she chooses this outfit today Kathy said she just like the sweater, because it’s funky and spunky. She is more of a traditional style kind of a dresser. She said this outfit is not too overly expensive but it definitely has spunk. Kathy truly enjoys bright happening colours. Kathy was pretty cool about me approaching her; she was very friendly and excited to have her picture taken. She is such a HALIGOIAN. I spotted Kathy on the street corner crossing Brunswick street in Halifax N.S. first thing in the morning.
